Downtown Grain Valley Inc. is hosting a community homecoming pep rally this Thursday, October 9th from 6:30pm - 8:30pm at the community gardens in downtown Grain Valley. The public is welcome to attend this event, coordinated by Grain Valley High School students. "Downtown Grain Valley believes school spirit doesn’t stop at the doors of the high school. This community takes pride in so many ways, and it just makes sense to show our students that the entire town is behind them," Downtown Grain Valley board member Theresa Osenbaugh said. “This event also gives us the chance to partner with the high school student government, allowing students to take the lead in planning, developing real-world skills they can carry into future careers—all while making their city a better place to live." Osenbaugh said attendees can expect introductions to fall activities and the homecoming court, snacks for sale by the Booster Club, free shirts while supplies last, and a few fun surprises. The program and script were led by students, for students. Following the introductions of activities and the homecoming court, high school students are invited to stay for the bonfire and DJ. "We encourage everyone to stop by, show their Eagle pride, and support one of our downtown businesses while they’re nearby," Osenbaugh said. "The easiest parking is in the city lot between the Community Center and City Hall—a short walk from the event without crossing Main Street. Additional parking is available throughout downtown, but we ask that everyone use designated crosswalks and be extra cautious after dark. Go Eagles!"
