Jackson County beaches open for summer this weekend

Summer fun officially kicks off this Saturday, May 24, at Jackson County’s Blue Springs Lake Beach and Longview Lake Beach.
 
Both beaches will be open daily through August 8, then weekends only through Labor Day. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends, and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays. Admission is $9 for adults and $7 for children ages 3–15 and seniors 65 and older. Group rates and season passes are also available.
 
Planning a birthday party or special event? The beachfront shelter house at Longview Lake is available to rent during beach hours, perfect for summer celebrations.
 
“Jackson County Parks + Rec is excited to welcome the community back for another amazing beach season at Longview and Blue Springs lakes,” said Michele Newman, Director of Jackson County Parks + Rec. “Our team is ready to help families and friends make memories swimming, sunbathing and building sandcastles all summer long!”
 
But the fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. Summer nights get even more magical with the return of Jackson County Parks + Rec’s popular Sand Cinema series at Longview Lake Beach, featuring family-friendly movies on a giant inflatable screen right on the sand. Families are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for beachside seating. Admission is just $10 per car. Gates open at 7:30 p.m., with showtime at dark. Weather permitting, this year’s lineup includes:
 

• Disney’s MOANA – Friday, June 6
• Disney’s MUFASA – Friday, July 11
• Disney Pixar’s INSIDE OUT 2 – Friday, August 1
