The Board of Aldermen met briefly on April 11th, voting to censure Mayor Chuck Johnston for revealing confidential information from an executive session on social media, and approving a series of permits and resolutions that signal summer is just around the corner.
The Board approved a resolution to allow Food Truck Friday events be held in the City parking lot between the Community Center and the pavilion. In addition, Food Truck Fridays will be allowed to set up on the first Fridays of June - August on street parking spots on the west side of Main Street. Front Street from Main Street to Gregg Street will be closed to vehicular traffic during Friday Friday events. The Board also approved fireworks permits for the Grain Valley Band Parents Association and Grain Valley Partnership as well reviewing a liquor license for Slinger's Saloon. As previously reported, the Board met the week prior to the April 11th meeting, directing staff to prepare a written censure of Mayor Johnston for revealing confidential information from an executive session on social media. The censure was approved unanimously by the board. During Mayor comments, Johnston expressed regret and apologized for the disclosure. In other business, candid marketing presented results of the recently completed branding project. A new logo and tagline for the City will be rolled out first to staff and then to the community in the near future. The next regularly scheduled board meeting will be at City Hall on Monday, April 25th at 7:00pm. Comments are closed.
