​Extension Master Gardeners (EMGs) help MU Extension bring Mizzou to You!

EMGs of the Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City chapter are here to help you learn to grow. We are volunteers under the auspices of University of Missouri Extension. We help you learn more about gardening by providing researched-based information and reliable best practices for a wide range of gardening topics.  We receive fourteen weeks of training by MU Extension horticultural specialists and then pass that knowledge on to you and your families at educational gardening projects, children’s programming, and special events in Clay, Jackson, and Platte Counties.   
 
You can find information about our chapter and volunteer program by going to our website- mggkc.org or by finding and following our Facebook Page– Master Gardeners of  Greater Kansas City.
 
How EMGs can help you:

  • Community Project Gardens
You can find us applying and demonstrating researched-based techniques at our community project gardens located throughout our region. You are welcome to walk up and talk to us.  Garden locations and descriptions can be found on mggkc.org-our projects- community projects.

  • Gardening Videos
    Are you looking for gardening tips?  Check out these videos made by the University of Missouri Extension Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City. Please consider subscribing and grow with us!  You can find our playlist on mggkc.org – public education- garden videos
You can also find us on You Tube under MU Extension – Bug n’ Garden channel.
To subscribe to these YouTube videos, click on the big red Subscribe button from the site referenced above.  Once you subscribe to a channel, any new videos published will show up in your Subscriptions feed.

  • Programs and Clinics
Check out our 2024 programs, hands-on clinics and programs around the KCMO region. We are constantly adding new events so watch frequently. 
 
Saturday, March 9 is the first Annual Spring Fling Gardening Celebration at the Young School at Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity, 505 N. Dodgion Avenue, Independence, MO 64050. Free event for interested gardeners and families.

  • Gardeners Gatherings are back!  These are free, public lectures on gardening topics given by experts. Look at the mggkc.org website for upcoming presentations.
 
  • Come to our 2024 Garden Kickoff -  March 9, noon to 3pm, at Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity, 505 Dodgion Avenue, Independence, MO 64050. Gardening information and demonstrations all afternoon.
 
  • Do you have a group who would like to program?  Contact Speakers Bureau- http://www.mggkc.org/public-education/speakers-bureau/
 
  • Look for our displays at select libraries in Independence, Kansas City, MO, Raytown, and Sugar Creek, MO.
